The effect of aspect ratio on PCM melting behaviour in rectangular enclosure

The effect of Aspect ration on melting process PCM (polyethylene glycol 1500 (PEG 1500)) in a rectangular encloser was investigated using CFD modelling. model validated by experimental measurement performed for one case aspect ratio 2.31 with height = 155 mm, width 67 and depth 200 mm. study conducted two phases: i) constant enclosure, ii) volume enclosure. main conclusions from this are: the conduction heat transfer is only mode first 250 secs start heating PCM. Then, evolution natural circulation starts at hot wall developed to complete steady cycle after 2000 secs. results indicate clear (AR) percentage peak AR 2,31 both cases heght volume. iii) also show that there limiting where velocity reduced low values (<0.3 mm/s) regardless enclosure heht.
